Your Runway to the Sky Starts in Memphis

Have you ever watched a plane lift off and wondered who made sure it was ready? Someone checked the engines. Someone guided it through the sky. Someone planned every step. At Aerospace Science Academy, we want that someone to be you.

Our mission is clear. We prepare students in Memphis for leadership positions in the aerospace and aviation industries through a rigorous, authentic, industry-aligned aerospace and defense education. In simple words, we teach real skills for real jobs. And right now, the industry is searching hard for new people.

The Sky Is Hiring

Boeing's 2026 forecast says the world will need 674,000 new pilots and 728,000 maintenance technicians over the next 20 years. About two-thirds of those jobs will replace retiring workers, and one-third will support growing fleets. North America alone will need about 125,000 new technicians. B

Mechanics are already hard to find. One industry report said airline demand for certified mechanics would run about 10% higher than supply in 2025. When there are more jobs than workers, employers compete for talent. That is good news for you.

Trade School Can Be a Smart Path

Not every great career starts with a four-year degree. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) says aircraft mechanics usually need a postsecondary nondegree award, like a certificate. Their median pay in 2025 was $79,870, well above the $50,980 median for all workers. Mechanics in air transportation earned a median of $96,170. The BLS also expects jobs in this field to grow 6% by 2035, which is faster than average.

How the Careers Compare

Career

Training Before Starting

Typical Pay

Drone operator

A few weeks of study plus a $175 FAA test

$42,000–$50,000 to start; $88,000–$120,000 for experts

Aircraft mechanic (A&P)

About 2 years

$79,870

Air traffic controller

2–4 years (associate's or bachelor's), then FAA Academy

$148,080

Pilot

About 4 years (bachelor's typical) plus flight hours

$123,220 (commercial) to $232,140 (airline)

Pay is the BLS median for May 2025, meaning half of workers earn more and half earn less. Drone pay comes from industry websites, not BLS, and varies a lot by job.

Many Ways to Take Off

Look at the table. Some careers take weeks of study, and others take years. But every one starts with training, and every one can lead to a strong paycheck. Drone pilots can begin after one test, then grow into jobs like inspection and mapping. Mechanics can earn their certificates and go straight to work. Controllers and pilots build on college degrees and specialized training.

We Build the Runway

A plane cannot take off without a long, strong, smooth runway. That is what Aerospace Science Academy builds for students.

Our education is rigorous, so you learn to think hard and solve tough problems. It is authentic, so your learning connects to real aerospace and defense work. It is industry-aligned, so you practice the skills employers actually want. Industry experts say technicians need skills like composites, avionics, software, and clear communication. Those are the kinds of strengths we want every student to build.

Notice the word leadership in our mission. We are not only preparing students for a first job. We are preparing them to lead teams, run projects, and shape the future of flight.

The industry needs more people. Memphis has the talent. All that has been missing is a runway. Ready for takeoff? Contact Aerospace Science Academy today and start building yours.
